چکیده
In this paper we show how a typical random lifetime ( n ) of an n -hop path in Vehicle Ad Hoc Network (VANET) is a function of the number of hops that it contains. An experiment-based random process is modeled using Omnet++, obtaining a reliable probability distribution of the network’s lifetime as a function of n . A realistic Manhattan Grid Mobility Model combined with a simplified AODV routing protocol was implemented for increasing the similarities between the simulated scenario and a real VANET. The results presented in this paper will be valuable in doing further research.

Many performance evaluations for IEEE 802.11distributed coordination function (DCF) have been previouslyreported in the literature. Some of them have clearly indicatedthat 802.11 MAC protocol has poor performance in multi-hopwireless ad hoc networks due to exposed and hidden nodeproblems. Although RTS/CTS transmission scheme mitigatesthese phenomena, it has not been successful in thoroughlyomit...

Today, one of the new technologies in the modern era is Vehicular Ad-hoc Network which has takenenormous attention in the recent years. Because of rapid topology changing and frequent disconnectionmakes it difficult to design an efficient routing protocol for routing data between vehicles, called V2V orvehicle to vehicle communication and vehicle to roadside infrastructure, called V2I. Designin...
